More on Kiara Johnson: “Kiara Johnson is an award winning multidisciplinary artist based in New York. The published book illustrator passionately works to support creatives and inspire all to explore their artistry. Formally trained in animation, Kiara works in motion design, complete public art, and travels to paint live at events.”

Kiara Johnson works as a multidisciplinary artist with professional experience in commercial/book illustration, motion design, and customized traditional paintings. Johnson’s current body of work showcases narrative storytelling through gouache paintings, animation and digital illustrations. Traditional painted pieces require slight research and mostly imagination. Kiara expresses more freedom and fluidity in her acrylic, oil and water-based medium paintings in contrast with her digital illustrations. Most of Johnson’s digital work is geared towards the animation industry’s taste, which requires clarity in structure, form and complex detail. However, her commercial illustrations follow demands for creating simple and attractive designs as they most likely are printed later in the pipeline. Her personal animation practices some experimental influences, but primarily commits to narrative-based storytelling strategy.
